The House of Help/City of Hope Hosts Councilman Trayvon White for The Grand Opening Celebration of the Graceview Neighborhood Playground
(WASHINGTON, D.C.-July 13, 2016) On Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at 4pm, Councilman Trayvon White will launch the Grand Opening party and ribbon-cutting to commemorate the newly built Graceview Neighborhood playground located at Graceview Apartments, 2322 16th Street SE, Washington DC. Hosted by the House of Help/City of Hope (HoH/CoH), this free event will feature festivities including entertainment and a free community wide cook-out on the playground area’s newly installed grill.
Equipped with commercial-grade playground equipment, a barbeque/picnic area and complete with a secured gate, this park was built with the intention of promoting family- and community bonding while keeping the children and families safe. HoH/CoH founder, Bishop Shirley Holloway states that “The playground will provide a safe area with an atmosphere of fun where our children are free to engage in explorative and imaginative play.”

The project was made possible through a grant from the Center for Neighborhood Enterprise (CNE) and is part of the Center’s 35-year effort to strengthen the capacities of community organizations within low-income neighborhoods. The Graceview Apartments provide transitional housing to families in need of financial assistance. The celebration is part of a 3-day kick-off of a new CNE/Stand Together initiative which will also include a two-day training workshop for local community leaders.
